Frequently Asked Questions
What is minimalist photography? Minimalist photography focuses on simplicity and essential elements. We create timeless portraits where your dog is the only focus, highlighting their unique personality without distractions.
Do all sessions include retouched images? Yes, all sessions include retouched images in your personalized online gallery. Artistic Portrait Sessions, Creative Concept Minis, and Party Pups Sessions include high-resolution print-quality images. Open Studio includes one web-size resolution image, perfect for social media sharing, with a high-resolution upgrade available.
Can I purchase additional images? Yes, additional high-resolution retouched images are available for purchase for all session types. See your client gallery for pricing details.
What should I bring? Just bring your dog! We provide treats in the studio, though you're welcome to bring your dog's favorites. We have studio props and accessories available, and you're welcome to bring personal props that complement our minimalist aesthetic.
How long do sessions take? Session lengths vary by type: Artistic Portrait Sessions are 45-60 minutes with a relaxed pace. Creative Concept Minis are 20 minutes. Party Pups Sessions are 20-25 minutes. Open Studio sessions are 15 minutes. We follow your dog's lead and include breaks as needed to capture their best expressions.
Can I be in photos with my dog? Yes! Artistic Portrait Sessions and Party Pups Sessions welcome humans in select shots. For our shorter sessions (Mini events, Open Studio), time is limited, so please let us know your priorities. We suggest neutral colors such as creams, soft earthy tones, grays, or blacks to maintain our classic aesthetic, though a pop of color is also welcome.
How do you handle nervous or energetic dogs? We take our time, follow your dog's lead, and include breaks as needed. We're experienced with all temperaments and never rush—the best portraits happen when your dog feels comfortable.
What if my dog doesn't behave perfectly? Don't worry! Some of the most endearing portraits come from spontaneous moments. If needed, you can reschedule.
Where are you located? We're located in Carmichael, CA (greater Sacramento area) in an intimate, peaceful, dog-friendly studio tucked away behind a building off the main road. You'll find us near a Starbucks (for those pup cups) and a dog park with ample parking available, creating a calm and quiet environment that's perfect for dogs.
Do you photograph multiple dogs together? Yes! Artistic Portrait Sessions include up to 2 dogs from the same household. For our shorter sessions (Mini events, Open Studio, Party Pups), those have a limited time frame, so please let us know your priority (individual shots, group shots, or a mix) and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Do you offer sessions for senior and sick dogs? Yes! Our Artistic Portrait Session (45-60 minutes) works well for senior and sick dogs, with a relaxed pace and breaks as needed. If your dog can travel to our studio and feels comfortable in a studio setting, we'd be honored to create portraits. For dogs who would be more comfortable at home, we can connect you with photographers who specialize in home sessions.
What finished artwork do you offer? Our curated collection includes museum-quality prints, elegant wall art, and handcrafted albums from the world's finest professional labs. Browse options through your personalized gallery.
Do you offer monochrome portraits? Yes! Any portrait can be provided in monochrome upon request at no additional cost.
Is there a sales meeting after my session? No. We believe in letting you browse your personalized gallery at home at your own pace with no in-person pressure sales. We're available to help with selections, but there are no sales meetings or purchase requirements.
How long until I see my photos? Your gallery will be ready within 1-2 weeks after your session. Let us know if you need a specific delivery date or expedited service.
