Our seamless paper backdrop is intentional, allowing your dog to be the true focus of every portrait. Through thoughtful composition, we capture each dog's unique form, distinctive features, and natural expressions. Props, when used, are chosen with intention — never to costume, always to complement. If there's a simple, meaningful piece you'd love to include, bring it along — we'll work it into select shots. Our goal is to capture your dog as they truly are. We also have a small collection of curated studio pieces available for your session.

Every session is built around your dog — their temperament, their energy, their particular kind of beautiful. We work at their pace, not ours, waiting for the moments that are uniquely theirs. What's included varies by session.
The Monochrome Aesthetic
A return to photography's purest form.
Black & white photography strips away distractions and reveals your dog's heart through light, texture, and form. Our newest session, in black & white, will be available September 1st. We can't wait to share with you.
Quality takes time
Every image, edited by hand.
Each session is delivered as a curated proof gallery — up to 10 images for Party Pup, up to 25 for Signature. Once your gallery arrives, selections are due within 30 days — after that, the gallery reactivation fee applies to continue. Proofs are for viewing and selection only and aren't available for download.
We hand-edit every portrait to our exacting standards. Delivery of your included session images typically takes two to four weeks, depending on our shooting schedule — and occasionally longer during busy seasons. If you need your portrait/s sooner, please let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Sessions are currently available Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11am and 7pm, and Sundays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 11am — exact availability shown at booking.

Cancellation Policy
A note on cancellations.
Sessions are non-refundable. Please provide 24 hours notice to reschedule and receive credit toward a future session.
Portraits with Purpose

Over the years, Dogs on Paper gifted countless sessions to local rescues, shelters, and foster families, and contributed to animal welfare and community fundraisers across the Sacramento region and the San Francisco Bay Area. Like all meaningful work, these sessions came with real costs — the studio time, the editing, the materials — and eventually, those costs asked more than we could give. While we no longer offer these sessions, we're proud of every dog we helped along the way, and that work remains some of the most meaningful we've done.
